Overview

Unami, a subsidiary of Delaware Nation Industries (DNI) is providing on-site Construction Management/Owner’s Representation services to the U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for a new 50-Agent Border Patrol Station in Champlain, NY, currently underway.  The anticipated duration for the project is approximately 2-1/2 years.  The CM/Owner’s Rep. will have the following core responsibilities:

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Become completely familiar with all construction documents including Base Design Requirements, Specifications and Plans.
  • Review and understand all elements within the General Contractor’s Health and Safety Plan, Quality Control Plan, Sustainability Plan, CPM scheduling, etc.
  • Provide a daily presence on-site to observe and report on construction progress and General Contractor’s quality control.
  • Be completely familiar with the project Materials Testing and Schedule of Special Inspection requirements. Monitor all testing and special inspections and review all reports by the third-party testing group, Atlantic Testing Laboratories.
  • Become completely familiar with the Construction Phase Commissioning Plan.  Monitor contractor’s tests and data acquisition to support execution of Plan.  Identify times withing the CPM schedule when Commissioning Plan testing will need to occur.  Coordinate with Commissioning Agent, General Contractor and subcontractors to prepare for testing.
  • Monitor materials delivered to site to confirm they match the government approved submittals.
  • Participate in weekly progress meetings on site to confirm progress against approved schedule as well as identify construction issues and solutions.
  • Review General Contractor’s “As-Built” documentation to ensure that a permanent record of all changes are recorded.
  • Walk site daily to become familiar with the work in progress, the overall quality of the installations, and the adherence to site safety requirements. Write a daily report consisting of observations.  Include an ongoing photographic record of completed work as well as work in progress.
  • Become completely familiar with the project documentation software.  Review recorded documents including all RFIs, approved submittals, SK drawings, etc. in order to understand the job to date as well as pending issues to be addressed.
  • Work with DNI CMa to review monthly CPM schedule update and “pencil copy” of the Payment Application.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • 4-yr college degree preferred but not required. Desirable study concentration in construction management, architecture, or engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years successful experience as a Construction Manager, Project Manager, or Construction Superintendent.  Minimum 5 years’ experience on federal government construction desired.
  • Experienced in reading and comprehension of design documents including design drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and safety law. Familiarity with International Building Code helpful.
  • Computer literacy, excellent communications with other employees, subs, clients.
  • Ability to maintain records, prepare reports, and conduct correspondence related to work.
