Overview

Provides network, communications and system engineering and integration services necessary to design new and upgraded networks and install equipment required to provide communications networking services.

Responsibilities

Designs, acquires, implements and supports network infrastructure.  Designs logical Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) network structures for new and renovated facilities. Designs physical cable plants for network and phone systems. Designs Information Technology (IT) systems facilities, including server and network communication rooms.  Assists the installation of designed systems.  Programs and supports network switches and routers. Reviews and approves classified network designs created by other engineers.

 

  • Design and install Network Cabling systems and Network Router/Switch systems.
  • Support Engineering Branch Activities.
  • Support Requirements Development and Processing.
  • Support Technology Implementation.
  • Perform Timely Management of Network Projects.
  • Interface with Network Operations Teammates to include Partner Companies and Government Personnel.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in network systems processes and procedures or skills equivalent to Air Force certification for the position task
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and 5 years of experience in networking and computer systems. An additional 3 years experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
  • Some Technical Writing skills
  • Some System Diagram with drawing tools skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio applications.
  • Required: DoD 8570
    • Information Assurance Technical Level I (IAT-I) Certification: Certified Automation Professional (CAP), Global Information Security Fundamentals (GISF), Global Security Leadership Certificate (GSLC) or Security+ (Security+ preferred)
    • Operating System (OS) Certification – Cisco Certified Network Associate  (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred.
  • Required: Secret Clearance, with ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret
