Overview

The COMSEC Network and Computer Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation, and security of classified communication systems and equipment. This role requires a deep understanding of COMSEC regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as hands-on experience with various cryptographic and secure communication technologies. The Senior Technician will also provide training and support to users of these systems and manage COMSEC inventory. This position requires a high degree of trust, integrity, and adherence to security protocols. 

Responsibilities

This individual will install, configure, and maintain COMSEC equipment, including TACLANE encryptors and Secure VoIP systems. They will perform COMSEC courier services, conduct training, manage inventory, and troubleshoot technical issues. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of adhering to strict security protocols and strong technical expertise.

 

Equipment/Systems:

This position requires frequent use of COMSEC equipment, including TACLANE encryptors, Secure VoIP systems, key loaders, and other cryptographic devices. Experience with inventory management or government-specific ITAM software is essential.

 

Competencies: The COMSEC Network and Computer Systems Administrator role requires meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and a strong understanding of security procedures. Technical proficiency in COMSEC systems and equipment is essential. The ability to work independently is crucial, as most work will be completed within a secure area.


Work Environment & Physical Demands:

This job operates primarily in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. Duties may require lifting of computer equipment, using ladders, walking large office buildings, and loading/unloading of boxes, containers, or trucks.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time exempt position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, regular business hours; additional hours as needed to ensure performance across the program.

Travel: Primarily local travel for user support

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in COMSEC operations and maintenance.
  • In-depth knowledge of COMSEC regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with TACLANE encryptors, secure VoIP systems, and other cryptographic equipment.
  • Security+ or equivalent DoD 8140 certification.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience with government IT asset management (ITAM) systems.
  • Experience supporting government customers.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

  • Requires active TS/SCI clearance from the U.S. Government
