Overview

The CMT Engineering Specialist provides comprehensive support for government telephone and commercial mobile devices, with a focus on Apple iPhone and iPad devices, including ordering, provisioning, managing, securing, and troubleshooting devices. This role requires expertise in mobile device management (MDM) software (primarily BUEM and ABM), wireless service provider platforms, Apple iOS, and security best practices, along with strong customer service and technical skills. The Specialist will also support IP telephone and internet services, including coordinating with service providers and managing service plans.

Responsibilities

This individual will manage the lifecycle of government and commercial mobile devices, with a specialization in Apple iPhone and iPad devices, from ordering and provisioning to troubleshooting and decommissioning. They will administer mobile device management (MDM) software, interact with wireless service providers, manage device service plans, provide user training for devices, and ensure device security compliance. They will also support IP telephone and internet services, including coordinating with service providers, managing service plans, and troubleshooting. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing mobile devices, particularly Apple products, and excellent technical skills.

 

Equipment/Systems:

This position requires frequent use of computers, mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, especially Apple iPhones and iPads), MDM software (e.g., BlackBerry UEM and Apple Business Manager), wireless service provider platforms (Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.), and related peripherals. Familiarity with government SIPR telephony devices is highly desirable.

 

Competencies:

The CMT Engineering Specialist role requires meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and a strong understanding of mobile device security and management best practices, particularly for Apple iOS. Technical proficiency in MDM software, mobile operating systems (especially iOS), and wireless technologies is essential. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is crucial.


Work Environment & Physical Demands:

This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses computers, mobile devices, and other related equipment. Duties may require lifting of computer and phone equipment, walking in large office buildings, and loading/unloading of boxes, containers, or trucks.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time exempt position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, regular business hours; additional hours as needed to ensure performance across the program.

Travel: Primarily local travel for user support

Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance (or higher)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Security+ or equivalent DoD 8140 certification.
  • 2+ years of experience in mobile device support or IT support, with a demonstrated focus on Apple iOS devices.
  • Experience with mobile device management (MDM) software, including experience managing Apple devices.
  • Familiarity with various wireless service provider platforms, support centers, and tools.
  • Basic understanding of network connectivity and internet service providers.
  • Apple certifications (e.g., Apple Certified Support Professional).
  • Relevant certifications in mobile device management or IT support.
  • Experience supporting government mobile devices and security protocols.
