Linux System Administrator The Oceanic and Atmospheric Research’s (OAR) National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL) is one of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) internationally known research laboratories, leading the way in investigations of all aspects of severe weather. The NSSL, in partnership with the National Weather Service (NWS), is dedicated to improving severe weather warnings and forecasts in order to save lives and reduce property damage. The mission of NSSL enhances NOAA’s capabilities to provide accurate and timely forecasts and warnings of hazardous weather events (e.g., blizzards, ice storms, flash floods, tornadoes, lightning, etc.). The NSSL requires IT and technical support services for management, operation, and maintenance of IT systems in support of its mission. General IT support and project support for research and development of remote and in-situ sensing systems and creation of applications with the resulting data furthering the Laboratory’s research mission of understanding severe weather and improving the forecast capability of the NWS through better understanding of these weather events.
